-The museum was started 31 years ago from collections of many local, amateur historians. It is supported by the local borough and by donations from our citizens. It serves as an information center for the community and it's history.

-Since the museum is located near the Mason-Dixon line, the original founders chose the name because it covered some of the history of both states. Maryland is known as being called many things, but one of the things that stood out to the founders was the "old line state". The slate quarry worker is the main part of the logo. In Pennsylvania there were many quarry workers, so they chose that as the logo.
